1.1 When i try to login in s4, there is standing "account blocked". What now?

Log-In Problems

1.1 When i try to login in s4, there is standing "account blocked". What now?
That means you are banned, so you have to send a ticket at the support.

1.2 When i try to login at the website i get: "Invalid login information. Please try again. (Validation failed: Email provider is not supported, try another email address)". What now?
Create a ticket at the department zahlungen-DE, put in the ticket, your account name, proof that you own this account, the mail to which is has to be changed.

1.3 When I try to login in get: Failed to Connect to Authentification Server (Timeout) , what now?
Write your name with random capital letters, for example: ExaMpLe

try random capping some other letters in your name, happened to me and i got it working after capping 4 random ones

1.4 I get "account error" when i try to log in.
Wait a few days. Your account has to be activated. It is possible that you can login at the site, but not at the game.
It is also possible that you wrote your password wrong or your account name.

Do you have special characters (&$%§) in your password? These will not be accepted by the game. You have to change your password at the Mainpage → My profile → Edit Profile → Security Options → Change password.
If you get a S4-Crashreporter after the error message, something is wrong with your account. If this is the case, please write a ticket!


1.5 I have to wait a long time till it connects to S4! (Timeout) thanks to Saria
Just try to write your LoginID with mixed capital letters when you login (Example ----> ExAMpLe). Numbers and the password must stay indifferent! It might take some tries and different ways of spelling till it works.
Should you run out of possibilities how to spell your LoginID, try to reset/change your password.
If nothing works, write a Ticket.

1.6 Failed to connect to Relay Server (Error code: 2) thanks to Saria
They server thinks you are still logged in to the game.
(caused by unregular logout such as alt + f4 or DCs)
You can ask a staffmember if he/she can kick you out of the game.
You must wait till the server resets, so you can login again.
Always log out correctly of the game! Unregular loggin out can cause a lot of unwanted problems!

1.7 Failed to Connect to Authentification Server (Error code 7942) thanks to Saria
It means you can't connect to the Login Server.
Open all Ports for S4 → Router and Software
If this happens for several Users, the LoginServers are crashed or offline. If this is the case, please go to chat and ask what's wrong.

Close your client and login again



Patcher Problems


2.1 When I press start, there comes a pop-up with "the Game is under short maintenance", what does it mean?
This means they are updating s4. So you have to wait a while. Most of the time it does not take more then a few hours.

2.2 When I press start, a pop-up shows: "failed to download version.ini". what now?

in order to fix the "Failed to load url of version.ini" error, just right click your S4 League exe booter and hit properties, then in the "Start In" field enter the path to your S4 League folder (for example: "C:\Program Files\alaplaya\S4League") and then Launch your S4 League patcher again. You can also manually go to your S4 League folder and start the patcher_s4.exe file there.

it may be due to your Antivirus or Firewall disrupting the installation or update on S4 League client. You should try reinstalling your client again from a different host on alaplaya to make sure no files were lost during the last installation on your PC. Be sure to check if your PC meets the minimum requirements to run S4 League game as followed:
CPU: Pentium III 1 Ghz
RAM: 256 MB
HDD: 1 GB
Operating System: Windows 2000/XP
Graphics Card: nVidia Geforce 4MX
Direct X: 9.0c
Network: 56 Kbps or faster
Make sure you have updated your Graphics Drivers where necessary (such as your Motherboard, Graphics Card, Sound Card, etc.) Your DirectX needs to be updated to DirectX 9.0c for Windows XP and DirectX 10 for Windows Vista Operating Systems. You also need ServicePack 3 + Framenetwork 2 .net or 3 of Windows installed (Framenetwork 3 is recommended).
Also, try going into your alaplaya folder and from there to your S4 League folder. After that, try running C:\Program Files\alaplaya\S4League\patcher_s4.exe and see if it will patch properly again and run it under "Administrator" settings if you have Windows Vista.

2.3 S4Client and/or S4patcher doesnt start/show up. (Windows 7 & Vista) thanks to WaffleOfDoom
Run the S4Client and/or Patcher as Administator.
To do this, navigate to your folder where you installed S4League (e.g. C/Program Files/alaplaya/S4League)
Right click on the client and/or patcher select properties Compatibility check run as administrator.

If that didn't work, try to download s4 again but this time from a different source.

2.4 File Changed: W[2007] L[2] S4Client.exe thanks to Saria
This error happens, if your antivir program chenges the S4Client.exe.
Mark this file as exception in your antivir and get the file S4Client.exe from somebody who's S4L is working.

Download it and replace it with the one in your S4 folder.
Maybe you have to deactivate your antivir program before downloading and replacing it.


In-Game Problems

3.1 When i exit s4 by pressing alt+F4 or exiting by the X button, the game screen stays when it is done.
do alt+tab, if that does not work, press CTRL+ALT+DEL in-game, start task engine, and quit the proces s4client.exe threw the task list.
if alt+tab works, press right mouse button on the task bar, and start task engine, you might also try windows+R and start taskmsgr.exe or taskeng
alt+F4 does not always work.

3.2 Some of the icons like inventory and shop are missing, how do i fix this?
When starting s4, at the patcher, click the good flag, the flag of your language.

3.3 i have a Resolution problem. how fix it?

To fix this issue, please try going to your S4 League directory (default: C:\Program Files\alaplaya\S4League) and delete your S4Client.option.s4 file, the game should automatically create a new settings file. If the game chooses bad settings again, please try downloading this file containing the lowest possible settings and putting it in your S4 League directory: http://yomiplayground.dip.jp/S4Client.option.s4. After you've created your character, feel free to choose your own settings.

3.4 Whenever I join a room everyone lags, can I fix this?

If everyone in the room is lagging it is very likely down to your own connection. If you don't live in Europe then lag will be a problem for you, also a fast internet is recommended.

You can test your connection @ http://www.speedtest.net.
You can test your ping @ http://www.pingtest.net --> ping above 100 ms is not reccomended.
How you can improve you connection? Close everything that connects to internet, like msn, downloads(torrent), xfire, etc.

It's a game feature I think,though I still think it's a bug seeing that it's not stated anywhere differently.

3.6 I get this error: "connection to relay server terminated", what to do?

Open your ports.
TCP Ports: 28002 28008 28012 28013
and check if your firewall is not blocking s4.
also try to uninstall VMWare if you have this on your computer.
If this does not work, try to wire your connection, if you use wireless. Because that can be the problem.

3.7 how do i finish Detect licence?

To finish the Detect license, you should keep your cursor on the hidden character in front of you for a while, the license test will supply the Detect skill to you after some time. After that, you can move on and kill 3 Virtual Characters. After that the license test is finished.

3.8 The connection to the Game Server has been lost thanks to Saria
This can happen if your firewall blocks a file from S4L
Allow S4L the access to the Internet in your Firewall.
If it doesn't work open the ports for S4L in your Firewall.
Another source of the problem might be the program VMWare. If it's on your computer, delete it.
This can also mean you have a packet loss or a weak/unstable connection.

3.9 The connection to the Relay Server has been determined thanks to Saria
Windows Key+R → insert „ipconfig /release“ (terminates internet connection, dw)
→ insert „ipconfig /renew“ (restarts internet connection)
→ start S4 League
If the error shows up again, check if your WLAN drivers work correctly.

3.10 The connection to the Chat Server has been determined thanks to Saria
You can't chat, whisper or check on Userinformation ingame.
Just go back to the Server selection and join again.
Important: This error appears often after you lost the whole connection to the server. You recognize it by unmoving enemies, very constant pings. Usually you get a message, that the connection to the Game or Relay server is terminated, if the game can't reconnect in time.

3.11 Mouse is not at the correct place (ingame) thanks to Saria
Delete Program Files\alaplaya\S4League\S4Client.options.s4
Afterwards the Standard settings should be resettet, without joining the game.

3.12 Wearing unusable Item thanks to Saria
If you have the same weapons equipped on different characters, take them off from the other characters.
Delete your character (weapons will not be deleted!), create a new character and equip them again.
Take off all items and equip them again on the right slots.

3.13 Mission „Dodge while faint“, what do i have to do? thanks to Saria
Means: Dodge while you are stunned by the jump attack of the enemy or by revenge of the counter sword.

3.14 Mission is not counted? thanks to Saria
This happens if you haven't fullfilled all requirements of the mission.
You have to play the match from the beginning till the end (only TD/DM/Map)
You have to play a match 20 minutes at least (only TD/DM/Map)
Both teams have to consist of 5 players at the end (also kill missions)

3.15 Hacker appeared, what now? thanks to Saria
In this case contact a GM. Ingame you can recognize them by their big yellow letters.
If there is none you can do screenshots and report them via ticket to the S4 department.

3.16 The Screen is moving, what now? thanks to Saria
The CPU capacity is too high. Close all other programs and check which processes are running.
Does your graphic card meet the requirements? Try a lower resolution and/or a lower texturequality.
Maybe your graphiccard driver has activated some additional filters? Check and deactivate them.

3.17 I can't delete my Combi thanks to Saria
If this is the case, you don't have a combi, but an open combi request.
This means the player, you've sent a combi request went offline, without answering on your combi resquest.
This request stays open until the player logs in again and answers on it.
You can still receive a 6th combi request from another player. So just ask one you want to play with, if he can send you one.

3.19 Lvl 21, i get only 2.000 PEN not 10.000 PEN, why? thanks to Saria
You will get the 10k PEN after completing the level, not reaching it.
So you'll receive the money at lvl 22

Other problems/questions:

4.1 the install file i downloaded is Invalid or Corrupt. what now?
Download it again, but this time from another source.

4.2 how long does it take to download s4?
depends on your download speed(speedtest.net).
there you see how much kilobytes per sec you downloade(AVARAGE!!!)
then you look what the size of the file is you download.
then you set the total size of the file in kilobytes(if it is MB, do it X 1000).
then TOTALFILESIZE:DOWNLOADSPEED=time in seconds.

4.3 How do i get permenant items?
Before patch nr X, you could buy perm weapons, now you can't anymore. So the only way to get is is to spend AP on capsules, or spend PEN on fumbi. With both ways there is a little chance to get perm, so it is not certain.
you can also get it by special events.

4.4 I downloaded the install file, it ends with ".zip" , what now?

Download Winzip, Winrar or 7zip to extract the files somewhere. Then you will find an installer in them so you can install those games. Or if you have Total commander it can extract the files too.

PEN: for CLOTHING it does not matter you are online or not, for WEAPONS The time only decrease if you play.
AP: If you are OFLINE, the time ticks on, whether you are online or ofline. EXCEPT EXP and PEN +.

4.6 I bought AP trew money transfer, how long does it take till i get my AP?

This depends on the nature of the ticket, for example, if it's a hacker report then you don't NEED an answer, you just need to trust Alaplaya to ban the hacker.
Keep in mind that Alaplaya get a LOT of tickets and yours might slip through the cracks, if you feel neglected then you can update your ticket by pressing the 'Post Reply' button in the 'View Ticket' area, this should hopefully make it known that you want an answer. And also check here before sending tickets about things, sometimes the solution doesn't require you to bother Alaplaya

4.9 Can i play S4L at ?' thanks to Saria
Linux: You can play it with Wine, though it needs a lot of RAM.
Mac: Yes and no. You can emulate it with some programs, but it doesn't garantuee you smooth running game. You need a higher main memory.
Windows: No problems occured till now.

4.10 5004 Error, - Error while Installation?' thanks to Saria
You have a defect client. Please try to download again from another Server.

4.11 C++ Runtime Error' thanks to Saria
This is a difficult case. First check if you use a special mouse or keyboard driver or installed anything recently.
If u receive anything like this error message, please write a ticket and insert a screenshot.

4.12 How to play with a Controller? thanks to Saria
A User suggests to use the program „ControlMK“.
